A little transition era from yours truly has been a quite easy for me. Living in Chicago for a year, I got the feel of a big city. I did notice, though, New York is definitely more fast paced. Doesn't bother me, just means I'll actually be on time!

Love cooking

Forgot to mention, I actually had to pull out my apron last night.
Disclaimer: Delicata Squash is messy, just sayin'

Fall is right around the corner

Tomorrow is October which finally means I can order pumpkin everything. I love seeing the leaves change color, pumpkins splattered across the city, scarfs and hats galore and the hype around Halloween. I've decided to be an avocado for Halloween.

My roommates and I started to the holiday season a little bit early this year. We made a pack to only watch scary movies for the month of October. I promise to make pumpkin and ghost pizzas for the girls. I'm going to make us a lime sherbet drink that pretty spooky to drink one night. I even borrowed, Rosemary's Baby, at the schools library.

Last night the girls and I rented a Japanese gore movie called Grotesque. No need for explain on that movie. At one point, I had to stop eating my popcorn because it was so disgusting. Along with the scary movie, we made cookies while I made...

Delicata Squash with cashew, almond and sage filling:

This is an amazing recipe for two and quite filling. If it would have been 20 degrees colder last night, this would have been pure perfection.

Recipe:
2 tablespoons of butter
1 yellow onion chopped
1 teaspoon of Sage
1 glove of garlic
1 teaspoon of kosher salt (you can use regular salt, I just like kosher salt)
pepper to taste
1/2 cup of greek plain yogurt
1 handful of sliced almonds chopped
1 handful of cashews chopped
1 egg beaten
half a cup of parmesan cheese
1 delicata squash

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Then melt the butter and add onions and garlic until softned. Add the sage for about a minute. Add the nuts into the pan and just stir for about 3 minutes. Meanwhile, in a small bowl whisk egg, parmesan, salt and pepper and yogurt together. Next combine the onion, sage, garlic and nuts into the bowl and mix. Fill the squash (and this may take a while) and pop in the oven for about 50 minutes. And Viola, you have a tender squash to eat.

Bonus: Add a little of Balsamic to the squash and it's mouth watering.

Taking a mid morning nap...

What do I have for you?

Things are slow here in Harlem because I'm dealing with a nasty cold.
I've got some good tunes to remind you how amazing
Bobby Darin was. Well, in all honestly, these songs
were in the pilot episode of Pan Am.

I'm getting sick

Ah poor me. Not really, but really. I can feel it in my chest and my aches that I will not have a good day tomorrow.

How cool is Joan!?

Seriously that hair is so, so, so, so cool. Plus the song ain't bad either!

THINGS ARE HAPPENING

>:O

I'm so overwhelmed with school, work, laundry, bills, food, goals that I am not feeling this week at all. I wish I could buy a hug from someone or get enough sleep or hear a great joke or actually
listen to my records. We're missing the silly blue cord to plug it into our receiver.
Things are happening in my life that I cannot change. I need to distance myself from my comfort
zones because at the rate of how close I am to people, I'm just going to end up
disappointing myself. Catching my drift?

Am I really dramatic or what?

Want to know the icing on the cake? Since September 11th, my sister has only talked to me once. I moved to New York August 22nd and only heard from her on my birthday. Oh, I spent this day with tears in my eyes all day long thinking about how she doesn't care to have a relationship with me.

Am I really dramatic or what?

What a week...

I skipped school Friday and relaxed, caught up on sleep (which delayed my work...), went to Fort Greene Flea with Ashley and then went to our favorite pub, McSorley's. I love that pub so much! I wish I lived closer because I would be there EVERYDAY if I could.

I had work today and now I'm about to start on my art project.

I think I need to make a trip to Williamsburg

What's going to keep you warm this winter? A Charlie Brown Christmas, a cute man with a beard and a flannel, pumpkin chai's and of course, a lot of yummy creamy soups. I may even adopt a kitten!

I tend to get a little down on myself during the winters especially with New York being so gray and cold. Here's to a brand new winter with friends and a heartless city!

La Vie en Rose

This past week has been incredibly busy for me! I had my best friend (old roommate), my friend from Chicago and his lovely girlfriend come visit me for the 21st birthday! I had an excellent week. My birthday was amazing. I can honestly say, I had a fabulous birthday! A really cute fireman came and randomly kissed me! How cute was that?

I went to the Brooklyn museum and the Met. I could spend all day in the Met if I was forced too. My favorite part were the sculptures. I'm enjoying all of my classes this semester with the exception of one, Spanish 101. All right folks, I already know Spanish but I'm trying to raise my GPA. My teacher is really grumpy, bossy and out right R-U-D-E. She's Canadian. I thought she was going to be the sweetest thing in the world. You know, someone who brings the class fresh brownies and dresses in bright colors and smiles. But instead she's a mean lady!

Life is going blissfully for me. Fall is right around the corner. I've decided to make a mini bucket list before I turn 22. So here it goes:

1. Succede in my job and get a raise.
2. Cook a new recipe every week.
3. Save a $100 dollars a month.
4. Work out twice a week.
5. Make 80's and above in my classes.
6. Stay current to films.
7. Get a new ring!
8. Do A LOT more art (Henna involved).
9. Go to Austin for the summer.
10. Save up for Sweden & Italy.
11. Change someones life for the better.
12. Be nicer to people.
13. Be happy and not envious.
14. See a funk concert.
15. Order a ridiculously expensive drink.
16. Join a dance class.
17. Make banana bread from scratch.
18. Take more pictures.
19. Meet someone that changes my life.
20. Read 6 books this year.
21. Make the perfect spaghetti sauce.
22. Be in a PLAY

I've been meaning to get back into the swing of playing music. If I could cover any song, I would pick "Snowing in Venice". That song is so pretty! Do you play any instruments? I very lightly play guitar and am learning how to play the ukelele. I actually find playing on a classical guitar so much easier and softer on my fingers!

Sorry for the lack of posting!

Seriously?! How is this possible? Justin Timberlake just took it to another level. Mick Jagger && Justin Timberlake combonation? Panty dropper, fo' sho'.

Natalie Irish paints with her lips

Wow. Speechless right now. Seriously? This is incredible. Not only do I love...scratch that... ADORE Marilyn Monroe but I really take originality with art. GUYS... SHE PAINTED A PICTURE WITH LIP STICK.

One thing that has been on my birthday wish mind is definitely Henna! I want my hands to be covered. I think I want to study some sort of Indian culture. I love their music, art and of course... their wedding traditions.

Oh le sigh

reminds me of Austin (even though it's London) and how much I love cute boys skateboarding. Holla!

Oh dayum
